King of the HillCryptoThrone

A King of the Hill strategy game — defend the throne against waves of NPCs, build your settlement, and battle other players to become the ruler. Inspired by epic fantasy and tower-defense games.

Isolated in-world economy

CryptoThrone runs an internal coin economy — the currency players earn and spend in-world — fully isolated from the KBVE account ledger (Khash / Credits). The two never cross.

  • Currency — coin and gold-bar inventory items, 100:1.
  • Authority — simgrid server-side, synced via InventorySync.

In-world currency

Coin economy

CryptoThrone runs an internal coin economy — the in-world currency players earn and spend inside the game. It is fully isolated from the KBVE account ledger (Khash / Credits). These two must never cross.

Money is inventory items, defined in itemdb (MDX is source of truth):

ItemrefkeyStackbuy_priceNotes
Coincoin533stackable, max 501copper base unit, spendable
Gold Bargold-bar538not stackable (max 1)150high denomination, store of value
  • Source of truth: apps/kbve/astro-kbve/src/content/docs/itemdb/coin.mdx and gold-bar.mdx. Edit MDX, then nx run astro-kbve:sync:itemdb — never hand-edit generated JSON/binpb.
  • Denomination: coin carries compress: { target_ref: 'gold-bar', ratio: 100 }. 100 coins = 1 gold bar. Matched server-side by GOLD_BAR_VALUE = 100 (packages/rust/simgrid/src/sim.rs).

In apps/agones/cryptothrone/server/src/game.rs:

  • GOBLIN_LOOT_REF = "coin", WOLF_LOOT_REF = "coin" — common mobs drop coins.
  • BOSS_LOOT_REF = "gold-bar" — the goblin-general boss drops a gold bar.
  • Ground spawns seed loose coins (e.g. 5× coin at plaza tile (12, 9)).

Coins live in the player’s server-side inventory (simgrid authority), synced to the client via the InventorySync ephemeral.

spend_coins() (packages/rust/simgrid/src/sim.rs) is the single spend path. coin_balance() sums coins + gold bars at 100:1 for total spendable value. On shortfall, spend_coins() auto-breaks a gold bar into coins — a bet larger than a 50-coin stack transparently consumes multiple stacks or a bar. Compression is opaque to the player: no manual “convert” action.

  • CryptoThrone coins = in-world inventory items (coin / gold-bar), authoritative in simgrid, scoped to the game world.
  • KBVE Khash / Credits = real account-level balances in the jedi wallet:* ledger (packages/rust/jedi/src/state/).

No game-side code path reads or writes the jedi wallet, and vice versa. Gambling, drops, and shops touch only the coin/gold-bar items. Rationale: keep game-economy inflation and gambling RNG contained to the world; never expose the real account ledger to in-game exploits.

  • Blackjack table (CASINO_TABLE_REF = "cloud-city:casino:6,8") settles bets in coin only via spend_coins() / coin_balance()packages/rust/simgrid/src/blackjack/system.rs. No ledger touch.
