Next jam
Pirate 17
Preamble
Section titled “Preamble”The time has arrived for the next major gamejam! We can start the team structure and prepare the 5 man squad, ideally with a solid gameplan too. Before the jam starts, I think we should make sure everything is operational, including the GDD format and markdown components.
Since we dont have a theme yet, this can be skipped for now.
Colors
Section titled “Colors”Just a placeholder for that part.
Assets
Section titled “Assets”We will most likely use Azure to hold the assets but I am sure there might be a better way to handle this.
DevLog
Section titled “DevLog”The Pirate 17 devlog, oh boi.
You Are The Weapon
Pirate 16
Preamble 16
Section titled “Preamble 16”The Pirate 16 Game Jam theme is “You Are The Weapon” and now we are the gods. Turns out we had a bit of a different gameplan, ended up switching from Unity to Godot, so most of this turned out to be useless for this jam.
UIUX 16
Section titled “UIUX 16”Mock Buttons - Rock Buttons From void1gaming
Colors 16
Section titled “Colors 16”Main Green - #00bf63
Main Brown - #916a4f
Assets 16
Section titled “Assets 16”We will be using the Corgi Engine with Unity.
For the base UI assets, we will grab some examples from Itch.
Trees were added from Stylized Nature Mega Kit
Note: We removed this -> Now going to try and add the Ultimate Platformer Pack
Environment 16
Section titled “Environment 16”End of the Game Portal from the Gateway. Might as well grab some kenny assets, the first will be the survival kit
DevLog 16
Section titled “DevLog 16”The Dev cycle of webgl and unity is always a pain! There are still some issues with the auto graphics that I will have to resolve on the macbook. 01/18/2025 - 06:08AM - Updating the build configurations. 01/18/2025 - 07:35AM - Still need to figure out the joysticks.
Questions
Frequently asked
What is the KBVE Pirate Game Jam project?
It is the planning and devlog page for KBVE's Pirate game jams, covering team structure, the GDD format, asset sourcing, and development logs. Pirate Jam 17 is in preparation and Pirate Jam 16 was an entry themed "You Are The Weapon".
Which engine did the Pirate Jam 16 entry use?
Pirate Jam 16 switched from Unity to Godot mid-jam, so most of the earlier Unity-based planning for that jam went unused.
