A sun-bleached length of bone, dry to the touch and surprisingly light for its size. The marrow cavity whistles faintly when the wind passes it at the right angle.

The Bone is exactly what it looks like, a fragment of a once-living creature. It does seem unassuming, but serves many roles: base material for alchemical brews, focus object for dark rituals, or just a joyful chew toy for your loyal dog companion. Recovered from various remains across battlefields, dig sites, or dinner tables.
It’s clean. Mostly.
Just be very careful with bones around them damn neighborhood hell hounds doe and always remember, if the bone don’t fit, you must acquit.
Most commonly found in:
“Give a man a bone, and he’ll ask where it came from.
Give a dog a bone, and you’re best friends for life.
Just don’t listen too hard. Some bones talk back.”
Chronicle
Picked clean by scavengers long before anyone worth naming came along to collect them, which is why the best specimens turn up in places nobody wanted to camp. Alchemists prize them for reagent preparation, dogs for reasons entirely their own, and spirits for the shape of the sound they make when disturbed. A household with one on the mantelpiece is understood to have opinions about funerary etiquette, and guests do not usually ask.
