Vodka SauceFood

Pink-orange sauce with an even gloss, the cream visibly mixed but not quite disappeared, the faint heat of alcohol still present on the second breath over the pan. Coats pasta like it was designed for the job, because the cook who invented it was a pasta cook first.

Vodka Sauce is what happens when comfort food meets reckless science. The creamy tomato base is laced with just enough ethanol to trigger warmth or combustion, depending on use.

Best served over noodles. Or flung at cursed entities.

Sauce recipe recovered from the pre-Fall culinary databanks. Labeled as “Spaghetti but Dangerous.”

Made with mixing both tomato pasta sauce and vodka.

  • Restores 28 health
  • Applies fire-themed buff and cooking enhancement
  • Unlocks fiery pasta and volatile food recipes
  • Cooldown: 50 seconds
  • Highly flammable, do not store near heat sources
  • May be used to upgrade spicy food into Inferno Cuisine Tier I
  • Compatible with spaghetti, grilled meat, and survival vodka

“I cooked it. She drank it. Now the woods are on fire.”
– The Nomad Gourmet

Some believe this sauce originated from bunker-chefs who mistook vodka for water. Others believe it was on purpose.

Chronicle

Lore

Codified at a trattoria that closed during the city-center renovations of the previous decade, at which point the chef retired rather than reopen at higher rent. The vodka is burned off imperfectly on purpose, because the point is the texture change, not the alcohol, and every serious cook in the neighborhood can tell whose kitchen skipped that step. A pan of it is the quiet way of apologizing to somebody you have inconvenienced without explicitly admitting to it.
