Found so rarely in the crystal beds that most miners work a full career on hearsay alone, and the ones who do find a diamond generally stop mining shortly afterward. The cutters' guild keeps a ledger of every stone above a certain weight, less out of ceremony than because a diamond that changes hands quietly has usually changed hands wrongly.
