A pattern out of the northern fortress-tradition, worn by the sergeants who fight the front of a shield-line because a backing rank pressed too close will learn why the spikes are there. The plates are forged as a set, and a matched suit is accompanied by a small bundle of spare spikes, since anything driven hard enough into an enemy tends not to come back with the owner.
