Stackable
A bent length of soft wire with a hooked tip and a rag wound round the grip, filed by hand against a doorstep until it caught. Good for a cottage latch and a peasant's chest, and not for much past either.
Entry
The Crude Lockpick opens simple locks and nothing harder. A failed attempt can snap it, which is why it comes in bundles.

Chronicle
Every apprentice's first pick is made rather than bought, usually from a hairpin or a bucket handle, and usually the night before it is needed. The locksmiths call them sighs, after the sound a crude pick makes when it gives way inside a ward. A thief is said to have learned the trade once a whole bundle of them lasts longer than a week.
