Merchants Guild

The Trade House has been building toward this since the first ledger closed in profit. A stone guildhall rises three stories: arched doorway, lit windows, a columned mezzanine, a hip roof of red tile, and crowning it all a purple banner that is not flown by any kingdom — only by the Guild itself. The merchants have become a power in their own right.

The Merchants Guild owes fealty to no crown and no banner except its own. Kingdoms rise and fall; the Guild outlives all of them, ledgers intact, contracts honoured across borders that no longer exist. The banner is purple because purple dye was once more valuable than the silk it stained — and the Guild never forgets a price.
