Marlow

Keeper of the river crossing. He asks a toll for the bridge rather than for himself, and gives it up the moment you pay — after that he will talk about the mechs that come down from the ridge to stand in the shallows.

Beside the bridge in Friendslop, at the bank end of the span, facing the deck.

Flags

marlow_toll_paid opens the question about the mechs and changes his farewell. marlow_knows_river is set once he has talked about the water.

Standing

He greets a stranger, a regular and a nuisance differently — respect>=2 for the warm one, pestered>=2 for the short one. Both are counted by the journal rather than set by the conversation: talks that go somewhere earn standing, talks that go over old ground cost it.
