FAQ
Frequently asked questions
01What is the KBVE NPC database?
A shared, versioned catalog of every non-player character across our games — creatures, humanoids, constructs, and vessels — with stats, rarities, families, elements, and behavior data. It is generated from MDX source in the monorepo and served both as pages and as a JSON API.
02How are NPCs organized?
NPCs are grouped by creature family — humanoid, beast, undead, construct, elemental, spirit, and more. Use the sidebar or the family directory on this page to browse every entry in a family.
03Can I use the NPC data in my own tools?
Yes. The full catalog is available as JSON at /api/npcdb.json, keyed by id, ref, and name. Draft entries are excluded from the API output.
View the JSON API →04What do rarity and rank mean?
Rarity (common through mythic) reflects how special an NPC is, while rank (normal, minion, elite, rare_elite, world_boss) describes its combat tier. Both drive spawn rules and loot in-game.
