FAQ

What tool is needed to mine Wet Sponge?

None is required — any tool breaks it, though a hoe is fastest.

How do I turn Wet Sponge back into a dry Sponge?

Smelt it in a furnace, or place it anywhere in the Nether; both methods instantly dry it out.

Does Wet Sponge absorb water when placed?

No, once wet it is inert. Only a dry Sponge absorbs nearby water blocks.

Is Wet Sponge renewable?

Yes, indirectly — ocean monuments regenerate sponge rooms only on world creation, but Elder Guardians can drop additional wet sponges.
