Wet Sponge
minecraft:wet_spongeA wet sponge is the water-saturated form of a sponge, created when a dry sponge absorbs nearby water blocks. It drips water particles while in this state and cannot be reused to soak up more water until it is dried out again. Wet sponges dry instantly in the Nether with a burst of steam, or can be smelted in a furnace to return them to their dry form.
FAQ
How do I get a wet sponge?
Wet sponges are created automatically when a dry sponge placed near water absorbs up to 118 nearby water blocks, or they can be looted directly from ocean monument sponge rooms and Elder Guardian drops.
How do I dry a wet sponge?
Smelt it in a furnace, or simply carry it into the Nether, where it dries instantly with a steam effect. In Bedrock Edition it can also dry out slowly in dry biomes.
Can a wet sponge absorb more water?
No. A sponge must be dried back into its normal form before it can absorb water again.
Is the wet sponge renewable?
No, sponges are non-renewable in vanilla survival — the only sources are ocean monuments and Elder Guardian kills.
