minecraft:spongeSponge is a rare block that absorbs nearby water when placed, turning into a Wet Sponge in the process. It is found only in ocean monument sponge rooms, guarded by Elder Guardians.
Uses
- Water Removal — Placing a dry Sponge next to water absorbs up to 65 connected water source and flowing blocks, turning the Sponge into a Wet Sponge that must be dried out before reuse.
- Furnace Fuel Drying — Smelting a Wet Sponge in a furnace dries it back into a reusable Sponge; smelting it with a bucket in the fuel slot yields a bucket of water as a byproduct.

- Ocean Monuments — Each monument has one sponge room containing roughly 30 wet sponge blocks, guarded by an Elder Guardian.
