Ancient Debris
minecraft:ancient_debrisAncient Debris is a rare ore found only in the Nether and the sole source of Netherite. It resists explosions and does not burn in lava, so it survives the bed and respawn-anchor blasts players use to uncover it.
Uses
- Netherite Scrap — Smelt in a furnace or blast furnace to produce Netherite Scrap. Four scrap plus four gold ingots craft a Netherite Ingot, used to upgrade diamond gear to netherite.
Found In
- The Nether — Generates in every Nether biome, embedded in netherrack and blackstone.
- Y = 15 (most common) — Peaks around Y=15; also spawns Y=8–22, and rarely up to Y=119.

FAQ
What tool do I need to mine Ancient Debris?
A diamond or netherite pickaxe. Mining with any lower tier breaks the block with no drop.
Does Ancient Debris burn in lava?
No. It is immune to fire and lava and floats on top of lava, unlike most blocks — safe to mine near lava lakes.
Is it affected by Fortune or Silk Touch?
No. It always drops exactly one Ancient Debris regardless of enchantments.
How do I find it efficiently?
Its blast resistance (1200) means it survives explosions, so many players detonate beds or respawn anchors in the Nether to clear netherrack while leaving the debris intact, or strip-mine tunnels around Y=15.
