The BSD 3-Clause License adds a third clause to the 2-Clause variant: the copyright holder’s name (and contributors’ names) cannot be used to endorse or promote derived products without explicit written permission. This is the “no-endorsement” clause.

Common in scientific computing libraries, networking stacks, and game engine dependencies. The additional clause prevents implying official endorsement when redistributing modified versions.
