About Uncut sapphire

"This would be worth more cut."

Uncut sapphire is the lowest-tier coloured gem in OSRS, available in both free-to-play and members areas. It is cut with a chisel at 20 Crafting for 50 XP to produce a Sapphire, the base gem used for sapphire jewellery (ring of recoil, games necklace, amulet of magic) and members-only sapphire bolt tips. Drop sources include gem rocks, the rare drop table, TzHaar creatures, Waterfiends, gem stalls, and wall safes - making it one of the highest-volume Crafting training feedstocks in the game.

Market Strategy

  • Demand comes from Crafting trainers, fletchers cutting bolt tips, and jewellery producers.
  • GE buy limit of 10,000 per 4 hours supports heavy bulk movement.
  • High alch return of 15 gp is below GE price - never an alch target.
  • Supply is fed by gem rock miners, TzHaar drops, and the rare drop table - very deep liquidity.

Trading Tips

Watch the uncut-vs-cut sapphire spread - tight margins mean bulk buys pay off.
Track gem-rock mining update notes - changes to rates move uncut supply quickly.
Pair with sapphire bolt tips arbitrage for fletcher resale loops.
