Shortbow (u) is the very first item available for Fletching training, made by using a knife on regular logs at level 5 Fletching for 5 XP. Stringing the unstrung shortbow with a bowstring (also level 5 Fletching) produces a functional shortbow and grants an additional 5 XP. Crafting takes 3 game ticks (1.8 seconds). Members-only despite being a low-level item.
