Water Bucket
minecraft:water_bucketThe Water Bucket is a filled bucket obtained by scooping up a water source block, draining a cauldron, or trading with a wandering trader. It places an infinite water source, extinguishes fire and lava, cancels fall damage when placed underfoot, and can scoop up fish, axolotls, and tadpoles for transport. Like all filled buckets it does not stack, occupying a single inventory slot.
FAQ
Can I stack multiple Water Buckets together?
No. Filled buckets, including the Water Bucket, are not stackable and each takes up its own inventory slot.
What happens if I empty a Water Bucket in the Nether?
The water instantly evaporates with a hissing sound and smoke particles instead of placing a source block, so it cannot be used to build in the Nether.
Can a Water Bucket stop fall damage?
Yes. Placing the water block an instant before landing negates fall damage, a technique commonly called "water bucket clutching."
Can I catch mobs with it?
Yes. Using the bucket directly on a fish, axolotl, or tadpole scoops the creature up into a corresponding mob bucket for transport and later release.
