FAQ

How do oak leaves decay?

Leaves dissipate over time when they are not connected to a log, but they persist when placed by a player. Decay checks occur within 6 blocks of a log in Java Edition (4 blocks in Bedrock Edition).

What can you get from breaking oak leaves?

Breaking oak leaves has a 5% chance to drop a sapling, a small chance to drop a stick, and a rare 0.5% chance to drop an apple. Using shears or Silk Touch drops the leaves block itself instead.

Do oak leaves change color?

Yes, oak leaves are tinted according to the biome they generate in, ranging from muted tones in badlands to bright green in plains and forests.

What else are oak leaves used for?

Beyond dropping saplings and sticks, oak leaves can be composted for bone meal and smelted into leaf litter, and trees grown near flowering azaleas can spawn bee nests in their canopy.
