Uses

• Sleeping & Spawn Point — Sleeping in a bed at night sets it as the player's spawn point and skips to morning once enough players are asleep.
• Nether/End Explosive — Attempting to sleep in a bed outside the Overworld causes it to explode, dealing heavy damage — sometimes used deliberately as a demolition tool.

FAQ

What tool is needed to break a bed?

None — any tool, or bare hands, breaks it at the same speed and it always drops itself.

Why does my bed explode in the Nether?

Beds are unusable outside the Overworld and detonate with significant force when a player tries to sleep in them there.

Can I recolor a placed bed?

No, you must break it and craft a new bed with a different wool color; placed beds cannot be dyed directly.

Does sleeping always skip the night?

Only when enough of the server's players are simultaneously in bed; in singleplayer, one sleeping player is enough.
