Waxed Oxidized Copper is a Block of Copper at its final, fully weathered stage, sealed with honeycomb so it never oxidizes further. Its teal surface with green patina spots stays fixed permanently, unlike unwaxed copper which keeps aging.

Uses

  • Copper Bulb / Grate crafting — Used as a crafting ingredient for waxed copper bulbs and grates, and can be stonecut into waxed oxidized cut copper, stairs, slabs, and chiseled copper.

Found In

  • Crafting/Waxing — Made by applying honeycomb to an Oxidized Copper block, which itself forms naturally when a Block of Copper is left exposed over time, or is crafted directly from oxidized copper ingots.
  • Trial Chambers — Some waxed copper variants generate naturally as decoration in trial chambers.

FAQ

What tool do I need to mine it?

A stone pickaxe or better. Anything weaker breaks the block without dropping it.

How is it different from regular Oxidized Copper?

Visually identical, but waxed copper is locked at that oxidation stage forever — regular oxidized copper is just the natural end state and behaves the same visually, though only waxed copper is guaranteed to never change.

Is it affected by Silk Touch or Fortune?

No. It always drops exactly one of itself regardless of enchantments.

Can I turn it back into an unwaxed block?

No, waxing cannot be undone. An axe can scrape wax off lower-oxidation copper variants, but scraping does not un-wax a fully oxidized block back into an aging one.
