A stone pickaxe or better. Mining with only your hand or a wooden pickaxe destroys the block without dropping it.
Will a Waxed Copper Grate ever oxidize?
No. The wax coating from the honeycomb permanently blocks oxidation until an axe is used to scrape the wax off.
Can I remove the wax later?
Yes. Right-clicking with an axe removes the wax, and the block resumes weathering from whatever stage it was waxed at.
