Soul Fire
minecraft:soul_fireSoul Fire is a dimmer, turquoise variant of fire created when soul sand or soul soil is ignited. It deals twice the damage of regular fire, never burns out on its own, and repels piglins (though not piglin brutes).
Uses
- Soul Torch — Crafted from a stick, coal or charcoal, and soul soil or soul sand — the recipe consumes the soul soil/sand, not the fire itself, but soul fire is required to be present to obtain the base ingredients from the valley biome.
- Soul Campfire — A campfire built on soul soil or soul sand burns with soul fire instead of regular fire, dealing extra damage and repelling piglins.
Found In
- Soul Sand Valley — Generates naturally on soul soil throughout the biome; also found in ancient cities.
- Player-ignited — Created by using flint and steel or a fire charge on soul sand or soul soil, or by nearby explosions such as beds and ghast fireballs.
FAQ
Can I mine or pick up Soul Fire?
No. It is instantly destroyed with no drop when broken, mined, or hit, regardless of tool.
Is Soul Fire more dangerous than regular fire?
Yes. It deals 2 damage per tick, double that of regular fire, and it does not extinguish on its own over time.
Does Soul Fire spread or burn blocks?
No. Unlike regular fire, Soul Fire does not spread to nearby flammable blocks.
Why do piglins avoid it?
Soul Fire (and soul torches/lanterns) repel piglins as a built-in AI behavior, though piglin brutes are unaffected.
