The Slime Block is a bouncy, sticky building block crafted from nine slimeballs. It cushions falls by bouncing entities back up, slows movement across its surface, and sticks to any block a piston pushes or pulls it into, minus honey blocks.

Uses

  • Piston Flying Machines — Its stickiness lets pistons drag entire structures of attached blocks, forming the basis of self-propelled redstone contraptions.
  • Fall-Damage Cushion — Landing on a slime block bounces the entity back up instead of dealing fall damage, unless sneaking.
  • Potion of Oozing — Used as a brewing ingredient with an awkward potion to create the Potion of Oozing.

Found In

  • Swamp Biomes — Occasionally generated in swamp huts and slime chunks below Y=40.
  • Crafted — Made from 9 slimeballs, which drop from Slime mobs, in a 3×3 crafting grid.

FAQ

Does landing on a slime block hurt me?

No, it negates fall damage entirely by bouncing you upward, unless you are sneaking, which cancels the bounce.

Can pistons move slime blocks and attached blocks?

Yes, slime blocks are sticky on all sides and drag any adjacent non-slime, non-honey blocks when pushed or pulled.

What tool do I need to mine it?

None — it breaks instantly with any tool or bare hands and always drops itself.

Does a slime block stick to a honey block?

No, honey blocks and slime blocks never stick to each other, which lets redstone builders create controlled separation points in flying machines.
