Respawn Anchor
minecraft:respawn_anchorThe Respawn Anchor is a Nether-exclusive block that lets players set their spawn point in the Nether, much like a bed does in the Overworld. It is charged with glowstone and consumes one charge per respawn; using it in the Overworld or End causes it to explode.
Uses
- Set Nether Spawn — A charged anchor lets players set and respawn at a point in the Nether; each respawn consumes one charge.
- Glowstone Charging — Right-click with glowstone to add up to 4 charges, each raising its light level to 3, 7, 11, or 15.
- Redstone Signal — A comparator reads its charge level, outputting signal strength 3, 7, 11, or 15.
Found In
- Crafting Only — Does not generate naturally; crafted from 6 crying obsidian and 3 glowstone blocks.

FAQ
What tool do I need to mine it?
A diamond or netherite pickaxe. Weaker tools drop nothing, and breaking it resets its glowstone charges to zero.
What happens if I use it outside the Nether?
It explodes, similar to sleeping in a bed in the Nether or End.
Can multiple players share one anchor?
Yes. Several players can use the same anchor, drawing from its shared pool of charges.
What happens when the charges run out?
You respawn at world spawn with a message that you have no home bed or charged respawn anchor.
Can pistons move a respawn anchor?
No. Pistons cannot push or pull it, so it is immovable by redstone.
