Prismarine is a bluish stone-like block that forms the bulk of ocean monument structures. Its texture slowly cycles through light blue, green, purple, and dark blue over roughly five and a half minutes, giving submerged monuments a shimmering look.

Uses

  • Prismarine Bricks — Craft or stonecut prismarine into Prismarine Bricks for a smoother-looking building variant with the same animated shimmer.
  • Prismarine Stairs and Walls — Craft six prismarine into four stairs, or six into six walls, to shape monument-style builds; a stonecutter converts one prismarine into one of either at a time.

Found In

  • Ocean Monuments — Generates in large quantities as the primary structural block of every ocean monument.
  • Cold Ocean Ruins — Appears in smaller quantities inside underwater ruin structures.

FAQ

What tool do I need to mine prismarine?

A wooden pickaxe or better. Mining without a pickaxe destroys the block with no drop.

Does prismarine emit light?

No. It has no light emission of its own; the glow often seen near monuments comes from nearby Sea Lanterns, not the prismarine itself.

Where can I find prismarine?

Ocean monuments, guarded by guardians and an elder guardian, and in smaller amounts inside cold ocean ruins.

What can prismarine be crafted into?

Prismarine Bricks, Dark Prismarine, and their respective stairs, slabs, and walls, all obtainable via crafting or a stonecutter.
