FAQ

What tool do I need to mine a piston?

A pickaxe breaks it fastest, but a piston always drops itself no matter how it is broken.

How many blocks can a piston push?

Up to twelve blocks at once. It cannot push more than twelve, nor can it move bedrock, obsidian, command blocks, end portals, enchanting tables, and other special blocks.

How is a regular piston different from a sticky piston?

A regular piston only pushes blocks. A sticky piston, crafted by adding a slimeball, both pushes and pulls the block in front of its head.

What is quasi-connectivity?

A Java Edition quirk where a piston can be powered from the space above its head, not just adjacent sides, enabling many advanced redstone designs.
