Uses

No. It has a hardness of -1 and cannot be broken normally; it is only obtainable via pick block, creative inventory, or commands.

What happens to a jigsaw block after generation?

It converts to its configured "Turns Into" block (air by default) unless "Keep Jigsaw" is set to keep it in place.

Is the Jigsaw Block affected by explosions?

No. Its blast resistance of 3,600,000 makes it effectively indestructible by any in-game explosion.
