FAQ

What tool do I need to mine a hopper?

A wooden pickaxe or better. Mined with a pickaxe it drops itself and its contents; without a pickaxe only the contents drop.

Which way does a hopper move items?

It pulls from a container above, collects loose items from the space above, and pushes out of the tube at its bottom, which can point down or sideways toward another container.

What happens when a hopper is powered by redstone?

A redstone signal locks the hopper — all three of its functions (pushing, pulling, and collecting) stop until the power is removed.

Does a hopper prefer collecting or pulling?

If a storage container sits directly above it, the hopper pulls from that container instead of collecting loose floating items.
