Glow Lichen is a light-emitting plant block that clings to stone, deepslate, and ore surfaces throughout the Overworld's cave systems. It only drops itself when harvested with shears; any other tool destroys it without a drop.

Uses

  • Composting — Glow Lichen placed in a composter has a 50% chance to raise the compost level by one, and it can itself be spread onto adjacent valid surfaces using bone meal.

  • Overworld caves — Generates naturally on stone, deepslate, and ore blocks exposed to air or water within cave systems, at any height except in deep dark biomes.

Yes. It catches fire when exposed to lava or other fire sources.

Can water or lava wash it away?

No. Like signs, Glow Lichen cannot be broken by flowing water or lava, and it can be placed underwater as a waterlogged block.
