Dead Horn Coral is the lifeless, grayscale form of Horn Coral. It forms when living horn coral is placed or exposed outside of water, dying within a few seconds. Like all dead coral, it can only be collected with a Silk Touch tool, since mining it any other way destroys it instantly with no drop.

FAQ

How do I get Dead Horn Coral to keep as an item?

Mine it with a pickaxe (or any tool) enchanted with Silk Touch. Without Silk Touch, the block breaks instantly and drops nothing.

Can Dead Horn Coral be brought back to life?

No. Once coral dies it stays dead permanently; there is no way to revert it to a living coral block.

Does Fortune increase the drops?

No. Fortune has no effect on coral blocks — only Silk Touch matters for obtaining the item.

What is Dead Horn Coral used for?

Purely decoration and building, most often in aquarium or reef builds, since it does not support sea pickles or other living coral behavior.
