FAQ
Does a damaged anvil work worse than a normal one?
No. Damage state only changes its appearance; repairing, renaming, and enchanting work exactly the same.
What tool do I need to mine it?
A wooden pickaxe or better. Mining it by hand breaks the block but yields no drop.
Can it degrade further or break?
Yes. Each use has roughly a 12% chance to degrade the anvil one stage, and a damaged anvil that degrades again is destroyed completely.
Does falling damage an anvil?
Yes. Falling more than one block gives roughly a 5% chance per block to degrade or destroy the anvil on landing.
