The Chain Command Block is the cyan-colored variant of the command block, indestructible and obtainable only in Creative mode or via `/give`. It does not execute on its own — it only fires when a nearby impulse or repeating command block chains a redstone-conditioned pulse into it.

Uses

  • Command Block — Chain command blocks are placed after an impulse command block and set to "Needs Redstone Power: Always Active" so they fire in sequence, letting a single trigger run a chain of several commands back-to-back in the same tick.

Found In

  • Creative inventory (Operator Utilities) — Available only when cheats are enabled; not obtainable in Survival by any legitimate means.

FAQ

Can I mine or break a Chain Command Block normally?

No. It has -1 hardness, making it indestructible in Survival; only a player in Creative mode can remove it.

How is a Chain Command Block different from a regular one?

A regular (impulse) command block fires once when powered. A chain command block instead fires when the command block behind it in the chain fires, letting several commands run in a single sequence.

Does it need redstone power to work?

It can be set to "Always Active" so it ignores redstone and simply triggers whenever the previous block in the chain fires, or it can require its own redstone signal.

Can explosions destroy it?

No. Its blast resistance of 3,600,000 makes it effectively immune to every in-game explosion, including the Wither and TNT.
