Stone scarabs are common Pyramid Plunder artefacts found in the sarcophagi, urns and grand gold chests of Sophanem's pyramid. They were released alongside Pyramid Plunder in 2006 and are now tradeable through the Grand Exchange after the February 2015 update widened tradeable artefact lists.
The fastest sink for scarabs is Simon Templeton at the Agility Pyramid: he buys them at a fixed price (about 175 coins each for stone) and uses twelve of them to recharge the pharaoh's sceptre with extra teleports to the Jaltevas pyramid and the necropolis.
For Pyramid Plunder runners they are filler loot stacked alongside higher-tier scarabs, statuettes and the rare seal. Buying scarabs off the GE to recharge a sceptre is usually cheaper than running scarab farming yourself thanks to the buy limit of 13,000 per 4 hours.
