Planks are the base Construction material, giving 29 XP each. Convert logs into planks at the Sawmill in Varrock for 100 coins per plank or cast Plank Make at 86 Magic for 70 coins plus runes.
Common early-training builds include crude wooden chairs (2 planks, 58 XP) and wooden bookcases (4 planks, 115 XP). Exit the room to reset furniture and reuse the planks.
Note: nails are required for some furniture and can bend. Bring extras.
