About Opal
"A semi precious stone."
Opal is the lowest-tier semi-precious gem in Old School RuneScape. Players obtain rough opals from mining, gem rocks, drops, and various skilling activities, then cut them at 1 Crafting for 15 experience using a chisel (about a 1 in 4 chance to crush per attempt at low levels). The cut opal is then used either for low-level jewellery — opal ring, opal necklace, opal amulet, and opal bracelet — or chiselled into 12 opal bolt tips at 11 Fletching for 1.5 experience per tip. Opals are members-only and have a Grand Exchange buy limit of 13,000 every 4 hours, making them a high-volume Crafting and Fletching supply for ironman skillers and bolt manufacturers alike.

Market Strategy
- High alch (60 gp) sits below GE price; never alch.
- GE buy limit is 13,000 per 4 hours — supports large skilling buy orders.
- Bolt tip flip: 1 opal yields 12 opal bolt tips at 11 Fletching.
- Opal supply tracks gem rock mining throughput and clue scroll opal-rich rewards.
- Demand pressure comes from low-level Crafting trainers and bolt enchanters.
