About Loop half of key
"The loop end of the mysterious Crystal Key. Can you find the other half?"
The loop half of key is one of two halves that combine to form a crystal key, opening the crystal chest in Taverley. Both halves drop independently from a wide variety of members-only monsters at roughly a 1/128 rate. The chest contains a guaranteed uncut dragonstone alongside a selection of secondary rewards such as runes, gems, and coins.
Many ironmen and casuals collect the halves passively while training Slayer, and they trade actively on the Grand Exchange whenever crystal chest loot tables shift in value.

History (1)
- 2002-02-27
Released with the crystal chest reward system in Taverley.
Market Strategy
- Supply tied to mid-tier monster kill counts (giants, warriors, cyclopes).
- Demand spikes whenever dragonstone or uncut gem prices climb.
- Crystal key margins (loop + tooth vs chest reward) drive flips.
Trading Tips
Watch uncut dragonstone GE price: chest profit dictates key half demand.
Stack 11,000 limit and pair with tooth halves for instant assembly.
Avoid buying during Slayer-task-focused events when supply floods.
