"A scale from the hide of a lava dragon."

Lava scales are dropped by lava dragons in the deep Wilderness and by brutal black dragons. Ground with a pestle and mortar, each scale yields 3-6 lava scale shards, increased to 4-9 with the Wilderness Hard Diary completed. The shards are used to brew extended antifire and extended super antifire potions, making lava scales a key Herblore-supply item. The yield scales with Herblore level.
