How to obtain and fill the crate
A fish crate (giant krill) is created by emptying a trawling net that holds at least 10 raw giant krill while an empty fish crate is stored in the ship's cargo hold. This effectively compresses 10 deep-sea fish into a single cargo space, making it the standard way to haul large quantities of krill back from a fishing trip. You can also make one manually by using raw giant krill directly on a fish crate. Each filled crate represents 10 raw giant krill plus the empty crate it was packed into.
Emptying the crate safely
Filled fish crates can only be emptied while standing inside a bank, which returns a camphor crate (an empty fish crate without the ice cooler) along with the 10 raw giant krill. To do this safely you must right-click the 'Empty' option while a banking interface is open. Critically, if you empty the fish crate anywhere else, the crate itself will be lost, so always bank before unpacking. Filling one crate costs an empty crate plus 10 raw krill but the packed crate trades for far more, giving a healthy margin.
