About Earmuffs
"These will protect my ears from loud noise."
Earmuffs are a head-slot Slayer item that protect against banshees' screams and reduce damage from warped terrorbirds. They require 15 Slayer to equip and are essential safety gear for banshee tasks, where fighting without them drains stats and deals heavy damage. They are cheap, sold by every Slayer Master, and later become a component of the Slayer helmet.
When you need earmuffs
Banshees and twisted banshees scream when fought without ear protection, draining your stats and hitting hard, so earmuffs (or a Slayer helmet) are required for those tasks. They also cut damage from warped terrorbirds. They occupy the head slot but give no combat bonuses — purely a protective requirement. As of October 2024 they also count as warm clothing for Wintertodt.
Where to get earmuffs
Any Slayer Master sells earmuffs for 200 coins — including Turael/Spria in Burthorpe, Vannaka in Edgeville, and Konar at Mount Karuulm — restocking 50 every minute. They also trade on the Grand Exchange for more than the shop price, so buying direct from a Slayer Master is usually cheaper.

Earmuffs FAQ
What are earmuffs used for in OSRS?
They block the stat-draining screams of banshees and twisted banshees and reduce warped terrorbird damage, making them required Slayer gear for banshee tasks.
What Slayer level do you need for earmuffs?
15 Slayer to equip them. They are sold by every Slayer Master for 200 coins.
Does the Slayer helmet replace earmuffs?
Yes in practice — the Slayer helmet incorporates earmuffs (plus a nose peg, facemask, spiny helmet and more) at 55 Crafting, so the helmet provides the same banshee protection in one slot.
Where is the cheapest place to buy earmuffs?
Directly from any Slayer Master at 200 coins, which is normally cheaper than the Grand Exchange price.
